Guidance for less experienced players

Before going on stage, if possible try to find a few people who would like to play tunes that would suit you and ensure that everyone (including rhythm section) has access to sheet music if required, in an agreed key, particularly if vocalists need an unusual key.
(Please see resources page for suggestions for sheet music ).

This should help to avoid on-stage delays.

Non-reading players able to play by ear (or experienced players who don't need sheet music) are also welcomed and encouraged to join in.

Suggested around 3 tunes per group if lots of players are waiting to play.

Under consideration: that there could be a sheet of paper and pencil by door where people could write down their names, instruments, and 3 tunes they wish to play, with time slots already written by the organiser. This means that players could relax and enjoy listening between times without the pressure of wondering when they were going to be able to get a slot to play.
